Sacred Space. Sacred Lives.

For generations, Saint Margaret’s has been a place where our parish family comes to worship, to grieve, and to lay loved ones to rest. As our community grows, so does the need for a sacred place of burial, for our own parish members, and for families beyond our doors who have nowhere else to turn.

The St. Joseph Project answers that need in two ways. The expansion of our columbarium offers parish members a lasting place of rest within the church they called home. Alongside it, the Children’s Garden extends that same care to families who lack the resources or faith community to bury a child with dignity, families we will meet in hospitals, funeral homes, and communities throughout our area.

Together, these spaces will honor loved ones, support grieving families, and extend the compassion of our faith community beyond our walls. This project carries forward Saint Margaret’s commitment to serving others with dignity, care, and faith for generations to come.

Inspired by the Witness of St. Joseph of Arimathea

Joseph of Arimathea held a respected position on the Jewish council, yet he followed Jesus quietly, hesitant to risk what open faith might cost him. After Christ’s crucifixion, when many disciples had scattered in fear, Joseph stepped forward. He went to Pontius Pilate, asked for Jesus’ body, and offered his own newly prepared tomb so Christ could be laid to rest with dignity. His act of courage became a quiet but powerful moment in the Gospel story.

The St. Joseph Project carries forward that same spirit of compassion and sacrifice. Just as Joseph provided a place of rest for Christ, this ministry provides sacred resting places through our expanded columbarium and Children’s Garden, serving our parish family and those in our wider community who have nowhere else to turn.
