Worship & Music

Everything that we do at Saint Margaret’s begins and ends with worship. It is through our common life of worship; our common call to gather in the name of the Risen Lord, that all of our actions and all of our words are given their full life and meaning. It is only through coming to the Lord’s Table and eating of the Blessed Sacrament that we are enabled to go into the world forgiven, changed, transformed, and empowered to do the work of Christ in an increasingly broken world.

The early Christian church centered its life on the regular worship of Christ in word and music. At Saint Margaret’s, our faithful obedience in worship is the primary act which binds us together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Each service at Saint Margaret’s is distinctive in nature. The Sunday 8:00 Eucharist is more traditional in its use of older language, and has traditional Episcopal hymns, but no choir. The 10:30 service has a full choir, traditional Episcopal hymns, and occasionally adds the flavor of more contemporary music during the communion. This service is the principal liturgy at Saint Margaret’s, and most of the families that attend services here attend this Eucharist. We believe that families should not be separated during the worship hour. Accordingly, this service provides a traditional Anglican expression of worship with active involvement from the children and youth of the parish.

The Wednesday night Mass is much more intimate in nature, and offers those in attendance a quiet service with intercessory prayers and anointing for healing. Saint Margaret’s worship services offer a wide range of opportunities for all who seek a closer relationship with Jesus. All are meaningful, all are traditionally Episcopal, and all are Spirit filled!

Music
Music is an integral part of the worship at Saint Margaret’s. The adult choir provides much of the music for the 10:30 service, and is comprised of parishioners who volunteer their time and talents in raising their voices to God in praise and thanksgiving. The choir rehearses once during the week and also rehearses during the Education hour on Sunday mornings. Saint Margaret’s is also blessed to have two children’s choirs that rehearse regularly and provide musical presentations throughout the year. The music program is under the direction of Libby Tilson, organist and choir director of Saint Margaret’s.
